THE KAARC LOGO
About
The Club logo portrays a 1903 "Kalamazoo" automobile. The planned manufacture of
this car was announced in the winter of 1903 by M. Henry Lane, then president of the
Michigan Buggy Company in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Reportedly three or four examples of
the car were built and its appearance was described by Lane as being similar to the
1903 Cadillac. The company planned to manufacture two vehicles, a 5 hp machine for
city use and a 7hp machine for country touring. In July of 1903, Lane reported that two
of these vehicles were being tested for potential manufacture, but the company planned
to evaluate the car's potential very carefully. There is no evidence that the car was
manufactured beyond the few examples cited by Lane, and there are no surviving
photographs of the "Kalamazoo" car.

The image on the logo is intended only as a representation of this early car to recognize
and emphasize the historic roots of automobile manufacture in Kalamazoo, MI.
